Kevin Joell — Trail Builder
Sierra Trail Works is owned and operated by Kevin Joell, a trail builder with more than 30 years of hands-on experience in the Sierra Nevada and Northern Nevada. Kevin has been active in trail advocacy since 1994 — long before trail building became a profession — and has led more than 250 volunteer trail days over the course of his career.
Kevin became a licensed contractor in 2016, formalizing decades of field experience into a professional practice built on accountability, craftsmanship, and deep regional knowledge. He has built 95+ miles of trail across a wide range of terrain, user types, and project scales.
Sierra Trail Works works directly with land managers, parks and recreation departments, municipalities, counties, state and federal land agencies, trail nonprofits, ski resorts, bike parks, developers, and private landowners. Every project gets Kevin's direct attention from site walk to final grade.
